Radix Ventures invests €1.5M in Fresh Inset, supporting cutting-edge freshness technology for fruits, vegetables and flowers.

Toruń, Poland - March 31, 2025

Radix Ventures has joined the group of investors supporting the growth of Fresh Inset, a company offering the breakthrough Vidre+™ technology for extending the freshness of harvested fruits, vegetables, and flowers. Acting as the lead investor in this late Series B round, Radix Ventures contributes to a total raise of PLN 18 million, which will support the company’s international expansion.

Over PLN 55 million raised from Polish investors

Fresh Inset secured PLN 18 million in its late Series B round. Radix Ventures, led the round with an investment exceeding PLN 6 million. Other participants included business angels, company team members, and existing shareholders via follow-on commitments.

The funding marks a key step in preparing the company for one of several strategic scenarios over the next 18 months — attracting a major financial investor, a strategic acquisition, or an IPO on the Warsaw Stock Exchange (GPW) main market. Since its inception, Fresh Inset has raised over PLN 55 million from Polish private investors.

“This is the third consecutive round that Fresh Inset has closed with oversubscription. The investment has attracted not only financial investors. This round also brought on board key team members as shareholders, including Peter Vriends, Tim Malefyt, and Juan Llauro, who were historically involved in the $810M IPO of AgroFresh on Nasdaq in 2015.” - said Michał Chabowski, board member at Rubicon Partners, an investor and coordinator of all Fresh Inset capital raises.
“Our investment in Fresh Inset is the result of a long-standing relationship built even before the first closing of Radix Ventures. The company aligns perfectly with our investment strategy, thanks to three key pillars: groundbreaking technology, growing global demand for food waste reduction, and a strong international team. We believe this round of funding will enable Fresh Inset to rapidly scale its business and deliver value for our investors.” - said Wojciech Ratymirski, Partner at Radix Ventures.

Recent business developments at Fresh Inset

Investor confidence is largely driven by Fresh Inset’s consistent delivery on strategic business milestones. In 2024, the company signed a key distribution agreement with Janssen PMP, part of the Johnson & Johnson group, a global player in pharmaceuticals. Under this agreement, Janssen will distribute Vidre+™ products in Europe. In the highly regulated agrochemical sector, a partnership with a global leader is comparable to partnering agreements seen in the pharmaceutical industry.

Fresh Inset has also secured strategic partnerships with distributors in Latin America and formed alliances with global leaders in the floral market. In 2024, the company fulfilled repeat orders in Argentina, Ecuador, and Peru, demonstrating increasing customer trust. The company has also secured formal approvals for commercial sales in both the U.S. and Europe starting in 2025 — markets that are cornerstones of Fresh Inset’s long-term growth strategy and key to its global expansion.

“Fresh Inset is building a presence in South and North America, followed by Europe and major African export markets. In 2024, we welcomed new market development experts in the U.S., Italy, the Netherlands & Belgium, Spain, and Colombia. The year 2025 will be significant for us, as the Company will enter the U.S. and European markets. We are converting markets where we obtain registrations into sales, and following the first quarter, we remain optimistic.” - said Krzysztof Czaplicki, Board Member of Fresh Inset.

About the technology

Vidre+™, developed in a laboratory in Toruń by the team of Dr. Andrzej Wolan, protects harvested fruits, vegetables, mushrooms, and flowers. It can be applied at any stage of the supply chain — from producers to storage, packaging, and distribution companies, and all the way to retail.

“Three new patents obtained in 2024 have confirmed the innovativeness of Fresh Inset’s technology and solutions, strengthening our position as a global player in the field of freshness protection for fruits, vegetables, and flowers.” - said Dr. Andrzej Wolan, CEO of Fresh Inset.

About Fresh Inset

Fresh Inset S.A. is a technology company based in Toruń, Poland, founded in 2017 by scientists from Synthex Technologies and developed by an international team from Poland, Europe, the U.S., Brazil, Argentina, and Peru. The company has developed and patented a unique technology for extending the freshness of harvested fruits, vegetables, and flowers.

The proprietary Vidre+™ technology uses an active compound to preserve freshness. Its innovation lies in the way it’s applied — for example, via a sticker that releases the active compound in a controlled and maintenance-free manner. A single sticker placed on a product, packaging, or crate allows consumers to enjoy fresh and healthy produce for longer. Fresh Inset’s solutions address the global challenge of food spoilage and are protected by patents in over 50 countries, with products already available in South American and African markets.
